Following a BSc (Hons) in Politics from Bristol University, Mr. Thurner initiated his career through journalism and then moved into public affairs as a consultant. He kept on developing himself as he joined TDI (Exterion Media). Before he settled for a career in digital marketing he served as Group Marketing Director for the business units of 40 countries in EMEA and Asia Pacific, working for Clear Channel International.
He founded and is now the CEO of Burn The Sky: a digital and training business service established in April 2011. The company serves various renowned clients all over the world: American Express, Commercial Bank Qatar, HSBC, O2, PwC, PTCL, Faysal Bank, John Lewis and many more. The company revolutionizes their digital skills through Brand Solutions and Mobile Master Class program.
As a lead trainer for Google Digital Academy, Mr. Thurner tutors for Squared Online, AVADO, Digital Marketing Institute, the IDM, E-Consultancy, E-Marketeers and B2b Marketing.
Mr. Thurner is also a director at THIS PLACE, the digital strategy and design business which helps global retail, pharma, utility and Fintech clients by building products and services for digital economy.
Mr. Thurner’s deep expertise lies in mobile marketing, ecommerce and CRM. He is a published author of many books including: Mobile Marketing Strategy Guide, for Smart Insights, co-authored with Dr. Dave Chaffey (updated May 2016), Mobile Marketing Best Practice Guide, for E-consultancy (Sept 2016) and10 Key Decisions for M-Commerce Success, for a retail client (July 2012), regular keynote speaker and serial networker across his client side, agency and tech contacts.
